Nebraska’s receiving corps had an up and down season. Unfortunately, there was no consistency, it was either really good, or really bad. 14 different players caught a pass for Nebraska this season. At times, they were not helped by the inaccuracy of Taylor Martinez, but as a group, they dropped a lot of passes.

Kenny Bell had arguably the best season of any Huskers receiver, becoming Taylor’s favorite target as the season wore on. Bell had 32 receptions for 461 yards and three scores. Thankfully, Kenny is also a sophomore and has the next two years with Martinez to develop into a threat in the B1G 10.

Brandon Kinnie was perhaps the most polarizing receiver for the Huskers this season. Through the first three games, Kinnie only had two catches in the first game and did not record a catch in the second or third game. BK’s best game was against Northwestern, where he recorded six catches for 42 yards. Kinnie’s biggest flaw this season was dropping passes, as he had the most season by any Husker player.

Quincy Enunwa did not have the best season by any Husker, but he had the best play this season. He was not a participate in the play until the end, when he absolutely leveled an unsuspecting Fresno State defensive back. Here’s the play below, compliments of HuskGuy.

Kyler Reed and Ben Cotton had up and down seasons for Nebraska, each battling injuries. Reed caught 15 balls for 257 yards and one score, while Cotton caught 14 for 189 yards, but no scores. Each still have significant strides to make this off-season, both in the pass catching and blocking game.

The player who needs to make strides this off-season is Jamal Turner. Turner was thrown in the theoretical dog house, not appearing after the Minnesota game. Turner has a lot to work on this off-season. His route running needs to improve immensely. Turner made a few spectacular catches this season, but they do not make up for a lack of effort at times this season.

“He was not a participate in the play until the end…” What the? Did you mean “participant”?

sorry that was poorly worded. He was in the play, but was not directly involved until he leveled the Fresno State player and forced the fumble.
