Huskers 2012 Recruiting Class: First Look Part 4
Here’s the fourth and final installment detailing the latest recruits for the Cornhuskers.
Vincent Valentine (DT) - A defensive tackle who is going to make an immediate impact on the defensive line, Valentine is ready to get to work. He could become the next Crick, a solid up front player who can get pressure on the quarterback. He will command double teams, so even if he does not get to the quarterback, he will free up somebody else.
Jordan Westerkamp (WR) - Like Seisay, I have written about Jordan before and am very excited that he is finally going to make it to Lincoln. With a plethora of depth currently, Westerkamp will have a challenge ahead of him if he expects to play. One problem that plagued the Huskers this season was dropped passes, something that Jordan did not struggle with, which should help him. Nebraska was able to hang on after Notre Dame tried to pry him away. If he can crack the starting receivers this season, the Huskers are going to be better off. His sure hands are something they sorely missed this season.
Corey Whitaker (OL) - Whitaker probably will not crack the rotation this year, but that means he gets an extra year to bulk up, learn the system, and adjust to the college game. Nothing to be ashamed of for a new Husker player, as he is following in the steps of many before him. Whitaker has do just that, bulk up. He is a tad small at only 270 lbs, but an extra offseason will help him.
Nebraska also had a plethora of walk ons this season, all who will be looking to make the field one day. Nebraska’s class was not large in terms of numbers or stars, but do not discount this class. The defensive heavy presence will be making an impact. I am very excited to see what these guys are going to do in the near future.
