Doc Sadler To Be Fired After This Season?
Before you run off and say this is true, this is MY opinion, and MY opinion alone. Ok, so now that we have that clear, let’s get to the point.
Nebraska basketball has not done a whole lot under Doc Sadler. Husker fans were excited when Sadler was announced as head coach five seasons ago. Since then, the Huskers have never finished above seventh in the league, struggling to stay relevant in both the Big XII and the B1G 10. Currently, Nebraska sits in a tie for last place with Penn State.
At 3-8 in conference play, there is no way Nebraska makes the big dance, and they are on the outside for the NIT. Husker fans do not want to see CIT or no postseason basketball. They want the dance, and they want it now.
With Nebraska mired in futility again, is it time for a regime change in the arena? Nebraska moves to Pinnacle Bank Arena starting in 2013, and there is no way they want a team like the one that is playing right now to be there. If Nebraska does make a change, they have a season and two off-seasons to improve the squad.
Who Nebraska hires is another story. There are many capable coaches in the mid major ranks that would like a shot at the bigger time, though I am not quite sure Nebraska is a destination that everyone would like to go to.
However, until the announcement comes that Sadler is gone, he is still the Husker coach. But with a record of 100-83, including 33-60 in conference play, that does not cut it, and I believe it is time for Sadler to go. When Nebraska took down Indiana, I thought they had a chance to turn their season around a bit, but then Ohio State pummeled them, and Nebraska has not been too competitive.
I know, a few weeks ago, I thought Sadler had another year. But this lack of consistency and offense, much like the football team, is coming to an end. I think with a fresh start, Nebraska has the chance to be better and finish middle of the pack in the B1G 10. They can’t be any worse, can they?

After getting beat by Iowa, I believe it’s time Nebraska makes a change with their basketball HC. They need take basketball more seriously and start to become more relevant in the Big 10 conference. This is the first time in quite a few years that I have stopped traveling from Omaha to Lincoln to attend home games.
