Super Bowl 46 Evaluating Each Player On The Offensive Line
As I am typing this, ESPN reported that Sebastian Vulmer will play Sunday. Vulmer played right tackle when the Patriots lost to the Giants in week 9. I told people that Nate Soldier would be better than Tyron Smith back on the 2011 NFL Draft. I'm glad New England got Solder in April because it gives Brady another offensive tackle to protect him long term.
Where does Nate Solder stand? Does Vulmer or Solder start? The Giants have great depth at defensive end. Allowing the Giants to ignore the media along with a potential distraction on who starts at right tackle for New Englnad works in favor of the New York Giants.
Solder can present problems as a starter. Solder, like Matt Light can pass block, run block, or zone block. Solder may not be the most consistent offensive tackle yet. Solder is improving that aspect of his game though.
Solder has also been used as a flex back as a fullback or an extra tight end. Belichick has a lot of options on how to fully utilize Solder in the event that Vulmer starts on Super Bowl Sunday.
