Crick is not an elite pass rusher but does cause concern for quarterbacks. He doesn’t have a very good first-step but is tough to block due to his size and strength. He likes to use the swim move to get into the backfield and closes quickly on the quarterback when back there. He is athletic enough to jump over cut blocks and uses his height and long arms well to knock down balls at the line of scrimmage. Crick is a good run defender who can hold up blockers with his extended arms. He is able to grab running back with his long arms. He is good at splitting double teams and staying in front of mobile quarterbacks. This is one of the toughest players in this class to move one-on-one or double-teamed. He has very strong hands though he doesn’t get a good push into the backfield. He is a good tackler with good closing speed. He’s good at securing tackles and chasing plays. One concern is that he’s coming into this draft off of a torn pectoral muscle which caused him to miss eight games in 2011.
