5 Cornerbacks That The New England Patriots May Target This Offseason
Janoris Jenkins had some character concerns to correct. Jenkins has really pulled his act together at Northern Alabama. I really believe that if Jenkins never gets expelled from Florida that we could be talking about Jenkins as a legit candidate to rival Morris Claiborne for the top cornerback spot.
Jenkins and Dre Kirkpatrick are 2A and 2B in my mind. Jenkins can play man, zone, or press coverage. Janoris Jenkins stopped AJ Green, Julio Jones, and Alshon Jeffery at Florida. Kirkpatrick has been exploited with ease against receivers with massive size or blazing speed. Kirkpatrick may be a 6 foot 3 cover corner, but he has yet to prove to me on tape that he can handle a receiver with Megatron's size or Mike Wallace's speed which sort of limits Dre Kirkpatrick's ability to a certain extent.
The Patriots need to draft Janoris Jenkins in the event that he slips to 27th overall. Jenkins can play man, zone, or press coverage. The Northern Alabama cornerback is the top small school cornerback in the 2012 NFL Draft. New England needs a cornerback plus Belichick usually looks past a players character concerns if they have the potential. Jenkins has the potential.
