NFL Free Agency: New York Giants CB Terrell Thomas Wants to Return
The New York Giants suffered a huge blow when they lost starting corner Terrell Thomas to a torn ACL in the preseason. After watching his teammates win it all, Thomas wants to return.
Thomas appeared on SiriusXM NFL Radio Blitz Wednesday, saying that negotiations have begun between he and the Giants to get a new deal done.
Thomas is a part of a big group of free agents the Giants will start to look in to re-signing, including fellow 2008 draft pick Mario Manningham.
On the show, Thomas indicated he and the Giants are “pretty much on the same page.”
“Obviously we’ve got to get the job done, but I definitely want to come back to the Giants. Why wouldn’t I want to come back to the Super Bowl champs? I’d be a fool to leave right now.”
The way Thomas was playing prior to his injury, one would not have been surprised to see him get big time money before busting his knee.
Now that he is recovering from a knee injury—he began doing light running two weeks ago—he will obviously have to settle for less money and years.
Thomas knows his circumstances have changed, but when asked he seems to still believe he is a priority to the Giants.
“I hope so. And if not, I’m pretty sure another team would think so. All I need is one team to like me. That’s all I care about. The conversations are [going] well, but this is a business. It doesn’t matter until you put that ink on that paper.”
As for Thomas’ spirits? He says his rehab is going well, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s got a ring.
