The New York Giants are both division champs and Super Bowl champs for the 2011 season, which means the 2012 season is going to be that much more difficult.

Teams place a target on the back of the champs, meaning they’ll get every team’s best shot.

It gets even worse knowing that they will be facing the AFC North and NFC South, along with the division winners from the other NFC divisions.

Depending on how the Giants do in free agency, the Giants can be even better next year. Remember, they lost a ton of players to injury before the season.

But basing their schedule off of last year’s records, 2012′s schedule is going to be even tougher than 2011′s. They play the Eagles (2), Cowboys (2), Redskins (2), Packers, 49ers, Saints, Panthers, Falcons, Buccaneers, Steelers, Ravens, Bengals, and Browns.

The average number of 2011 wins per team for the Giants’ 13 2012 opponents is 9.15. For all 16 games in the 2012 season, the Giants’ opponents went a combined 140-116 in 2011, which is an average of about a 9-7 record.

There are only four teams the Giants will face in 2012 that had less than a .500 record. Even the easy games on the schedule look like they could be tough next season.

The Redskins are in the market for Peyton Manning (not to mention beat the Giants twice this season), and the Panthers could be getting better with Cam Newton in his second year.

The Browns and Bucs could be pushovers, but you never know with them each having high draft choices.

Next year is going to be brutal, but if this year taught us anything, you can never count out Big Blue.
