A couple of high-profile New York Jets players are pretty banged up and are in danger of not playing this week.

The Jets will officially list inside linebacker David Harris, wide receiver Santonio Holmes and safety Eric Smith as questionable going into Sunday’s Week 2 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, as each of them will attempt to play through pain.

Harris did not practice all week this week until Friday, but coach Rex Ryan feels pretty good about his chances of playing on Sunday. Harris is dealing with a toe injury.

“I feel good about David playing,” Ryan said. “The other two guys, I think it’s questionable whether they play. I’m hoping they do, but we’ll see. I think if the game was today, it would be questionable that they would play.”

As for the exact nature of the injury, Ryan wasn’t particular sure.

“I can’t tell you exactly. We think he’s going to be fine,” he said. “I don’t think it’s a turf toe. I don’t believe it’s a turf toe, because I asked the same thing, and [the trainers were] like, no. I think he might have a tendon. I don’t know.”

Holmes is dealing with a knee injury and a quad muscle injury, the latter of which he says he injured in practice this week. The number-one receiver in the Jets offense has not missed a game due to injury since being traded to New York prior to the 2010 season.

Wide receiver Patrick Turner was added to the active roster this week, so the Jets will have an extra body at the position if needed.

Eric Smith, the Jets’ special teams captain and starting strong safety, rolled his ankle in practice on Thursday and was limited in practice Friday.

If he can’t go, Brodney Pool would likely get the start at free safety, with Jim Leonhard moving over to the strong side. The Jaguars do not exactly have a great passing offense, so it may not make a huge difference.

The final injury report will be released prior to gametime, but for now, it appears all three players will be listed as questionable and will be gametime decisions. Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm at MetLife Stadium.
