With a few New York Jets players banged up this week, the Jets have activated rookie third-round pick Kenrick Ellis for the first time in his budding career.

Ellis, a massive defensive tackle out of Hampton, had been inactive the first five weeks of the season, unable to crack the Jets deep defensive line rotation.

This week however, reserve defensive lineman Ropati Pitoitua is inactive with a knee injury, so Ellis (no relation to longtime Jets veteran Shaun Ellis) is active and in uniform for the first time.

Martin Tevaseu, recently called up from the practice squad, is also active today for the first time this season.

Also making his NFL debut is undrafted rookie tight end/fullback Josh Baker. It’ll be interesting to see if he sees any snaps today, but it’s got to be exciting for him.

The inactive players for the Jets today are quarterback Kevin O’Connell, wide receiver Logan Payne, running back Bilal Powell, cornerbacks Donald Strickland and Isaiah Trufant, center Colin Baxter and the aforementioned Pitoitua.

Cornerback Ellis Lankster will make his Jets debut, filling in for Strickland and Trufant.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 at MetLife Stadium. The game can be seen on ESPN’s Monday Night Football telecast.
