The New York Jets have made a minor roster move this week, waiving back-up tight end Shawn Nelson after he was unable to get on the field in three games since signing with the Jets on Halloween.

Nelson was originally a fourth-round pick of the Buffalo Bills, and the 26-year-old has 21 career catches for 182 yards and one touchdown.

He was signed prior to the Jets’ first game against the Bills three weeks ago, but did not make it to the next one this upcoming Sunday.

The team officially called it a “non-football illness” and did not elaborate on that. Nelson has had issues with migraines in the past.

The Jets will likely call up a player from their practice squad to fill Nelson’s roster spot.
