The New York Mets decided to pick up the 2013 option on manager Terry Collins’ contract.  He was already signed through next season, but now he has a little bit more job security.  Terry Collins managed the New York Mets to a 76-84 record in his first season in the Big Apple and that was with a lot of injuries to key players.  I would like to see what he could have done with a full roster.  I’d be lying if I said I know for a fact what type of tangible impact particular managers have on their teams, but I like this move for the New York Mets nonetheless.  After interviewing several candidates, GM Sandy Alderson selected Terry Collins for a reason.  You have to give him the chance to grow with the team and give him a contender to work with.  Hopefully by 2013 the New York Mets will be turning the corner and Collins will be starting to make a name for himself.
