New York Mets’ Ike Davis Will Be Ready for Spring Training
According to Anthony Rieber of Newsday, first baseman Ike Davis will be ready to go when Spring Training starts in a few weeks. After emerging as one of the New York Mets’ best hitters in 2011 over the first 36 games, Ike Davis injured his ankle in a collision with David Wright. The collision was inexcusable since one of the first things you learn in baseball is to “call the ball”. That’s beside the point though. The only thing that matters is that the ankle injury was finally diagnosed properly and that Ike Davis has been able to get back to 100% and start his baseball work on time. There could possibly be a little more rust for him to knock off by the time the regular season starts, but the middle of the New York Mets’ lineup could be halfway decent and maybe even solid. The real Jason Bay and David Wright have to show up obviously and who knows if that will ever happen again in Queens. At least their lineup will look better than whatever the Houston Astros and San Diego Padres are trotting out there each night. I’m glad to hear the good news about Ike Davis’ ankle and I am excited to see him perform for the New York Mets this season.
