New York Yankees On the Verge of Acquiring Bullpen Help?
I used the term “acquiring” a bit loosely in the title. Forgive me if I got your hopes up or got your imagination rolling. When I talk about acquiring a talented relief pitcher, I’m talking about Rafael Soriano making his return to the New York Yankees’ bullpen. A lot of people refer to getting injured players back early on in the second half as “acquisitions”. In a way, they’re right. The New York Yankees spent a lot of time trying to patch together a pitching staff and bullpen in the wake of injuries. Phil Hughes made his return to the rotation which will be HUGE if he can find some of his 2010 form and Rafael Soriano could be back in the New York Yankees pinstripes if he get through his rehab assignment without any setbacks.
As much as Soriano sucked when he was healthy, it will still be nice to get another relief pitcher capable of performing like a stud. He’ll probably get his 8th inning role back even though he doesn’t deserve it. Aside from the politics of the situation, Soriano is capable of dominating in his inning and allowing the Yankees to play shorter games. Who knows what type of production he’ll provide, but for now, let’s just cross our fingers that he can make it back.

what a friggin waste of time that as….e doesn’t want to pitch for the yanks you can see it in his face cevery time he pitches deep six the jerk
Didn’t he look the same way with the Rays and the Braves though? I wish the Yankees could turn back the clock and not sign him to that ridiculous contract, but the best we can do now is hope he earns some of that money from here on out.
Are you kidding me?? He has nothing left….. Let’s focus on what we really need…. A starting pitcher or 2…Burnett is Garbage…. And another quality hitter like Granderson or Cano…. I love DJ and the job is his til he retires but we have some big holes to fill!!!! C’Mon YANKS!!!
