Is it possible that the Chicago Bears have strong wide receivers? Considering this has been an area of concern, well let’s face it, certainly since Curtis Conway and Jeff Graham about 15 years ago or so, I would say that this is not exactly what one would call receiver central.
[picappgallerysingle id="1839439"]But my friends, the tables may have turned. Devin Hester who has been working his tail off is receiving rave reviews. Based on his work ethic and talents, I think he should get some strong consideration for captain. Johnny Knox also is proving to be a strong talent. Many NFL scouts are beginning to take note that these two form the fastest wide receiver combination in the NFL.
[picappgallerysingle id="6315699"]Just imagine a quarterback like Jay Cutler with one of the best arms in the league opening up and hitting one of these two in stride down the field. Gets your heart racing a little bit…doesn’t it?
Devin Aromashodu will give the Chicago Bears a solid target as well. Earl Bennett was one of Cutler’s favorite targets in college and will continue to grow in this offense. Finally, despite yesterday being his first practice, Juaquin Inglesias showed some skills and made some solid grabs.
OK, I am not going to get ahead of myself. This group has things to prove. But, it is fair to say that there is some talent in this group and that may translate into something special. Offensive coordinator Mike Martz understands the verticle passing game, and he has the quarterback and athletes at the wide receiver position to stretch the field.
One Final Note…
The buzz around this team is just not there. The crowds in Bourbonnais have been less than in years’ past. Why is this? Well my guess would be that people are frankly disappointed that Lovie Smith is still the head coach. It is hard to disagree with the fans. The Bears had a great off-season through free-agency, but the issue last season may very well have come down to coaching. No matter how the Chicago Bears want to spin this story, Smith and the front office really did themselves little favor by holding press conferences where they basically defied the logic of Chicago Bears’ fans. But, with this being said, we are talking about the NFL’s most popular franchise and the fans will be ready by opening day.
