Lomas Brown and Kordell “Slash” Stewart said the 2-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bologna. The guys from Pardon the Interruption are selling on the Bucs’ chances of making the playoffs as well. This is not surprising for a team that most predicted to win two games, total, this season. I don’t necessarily have a problem with this. The Bucs really haven’t proved anything to this point. Maybe the fact that they aren’t the worst team in the league, which is an important step in their maturation.
What I have a problem with is the idea that Kansas City is much better. While Lomas and Slash called KC bologna, the PTI guys said that the Chiefs had a shot at making the playoffs. Oh you mean the Chiefs that lost to the Bucs in the preseason? The win over San Diego was nice, but it was a home game, and both teams have beaten Cleveland.
Believe it or not, Pittsburgh has a little to prove as well. They have solid wins over Atlanta and Tennessee and they will be favored on Sunday against the Bucs. However, the real test comes next week against Baltimore and during a three-week stretch in which they travel to Miami, New Orleans and Cincinnati. Then they come back home to take on New England. Remember, NFL season = marathon.
