Record setting NFL week 4 for several players
Week 4 of the NFL season was a record setter for many players. Cincinnati Bengals WR Terrell Owens, Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning, Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson, San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates and Houston Texans RB Arian Foster all found their way into the pages of the NFL record book this weekend.
-Cincinnati Bengals WR Terrell Owens recorded 10 catches for 222 yards. Sunday was Owens’ third 200 yard receiving year which is tied for the 5th most in NFL history. However, Terrell Owens is now the only wide receiver in NFL history to record 200 yard games with three different teams. Owens has 200 yard receiving games with the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49er’s.
-Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning passed for 352 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mannings effort on Sunday moves him into second place in the record books for the most all-time passing yards (51,493) surpassing John Elway. Manning set another record, the most consecutive starts by a quarterback-center combination. Peyton Manning and OC Jeff Saturday have started 158 consecutive games, the most since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger.
-Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson returned an interception 48 yards, marking his 10th interception returned for a touchdown. Only two other players in NFL history have more interceptions returned for a touchdown. Rod Woodson (12) and New Orleans Saints S Darren Sharper (11).
-San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates caught 7 receptions for 144 yards and two scores against the Arizona Cardinals. Gates now has 503 receptions in 101 games played. Gates reached 500 receptions in the fewest games played by a tight end in NFL history.
-Houston Texans RB Arian Foster continued his hot start to the 2010 season by rushing for 131 yards and receiving 56 yards in the Texans win over the Oakland Raiders. The other two running backs on the list are Emmitt Smith and Billy Sims.
