It’s not on the same level as Allen Iverson’s “Practice” tirade, but Eagles quarterback Michael Vick made headlines on Thursday when he announced that he doesn’t need practice to be ready for a game.

“I don’t need no practice to play,” said Vick, who missed last week’s start against the 49ers because of a rib cartilage injury. “Honestly, I really don’t. Not to be arrogant or sound arrogant, but I don’t need practice to play.”

Vick says he has made progress every day and “that’s a good thing.”

Don’t expect to see the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback out on the field this Sunday though. Head coach Andy Reid says if Vick can’t practice throughout the week, he probably won’t return for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. Reid did acknowledge that Vick has “made big strides, big jumps over the last few days.”

However, I wouldn’t expect to see Vick playing against his former team on Sunday.

Then again, we’re not talking about the game. We’re talking about practice.
