Despite their recent loss to the Baltimore Ravens to drop to 0-6, the Buffalo Bills have to be pleased with the performance of wide receiver Steve Johnson—who is quietly emerging as a reliable target in the passing game.

The former Kentucky standout had the best game of his three-year career against the Ravens on Sunday, leading all receivers with eight receptions for 158 yards with two touchdowns. He now has a touchdown reception in four straight games.

Johnson has been quite the surprise for the Bills this season as he’s caught 19 passes for 301 yards with five touchdowns over his last four games. Don’t let Buffalo’s winless record fool you—this offense has put up some pretty impressive numbers against some good defenses this season. They’ve averaged 26 points over their last four games and have put up a good fight against a few playoff caliber teams. Thanks to Johnson, the Bills have become a little more exciting to watch than most people expected.

Now, if they can just record that first win of the 2010 season.
