New Orleans Saints RB Pierre Thomas has been out of the Saints lineup for four weeks now, and his return is up in the air. Pierre Thomas has been sidelined with an ankle injury and will miss this weeks game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Saints head coach Sean Payton told reporters on Thursday that Thomas is now wearing a walking boot to help relieve pain in his ankle.
Thomas told reporters, “I really don’t know what’s the whole problem. Everybody keeps saying it’s a sprain or a little tear. I don’t know for sure if that’s true. All I’m thinking about is just trying to get healthy, just trying to get better. I was told to stay off my foot. So that’s what I’m doing with the crutches and in the boot”.
It is not believed that Thomas will require any surgery, however, there has been no timetable given for when he might return to the lineup.
RB Chris Ivory has replaced Thomas in the Saints lineup and has proven to be effective rushing for 325 yards on 59 yards but has yet to score a touchdown.
RB Reggie Bush was medically cleared to play earlier this week according to reports, but it is uncertain whether or not he will play Sunday night. Bush did not practice on Thursday.
