The Carolina Panthers have been dreadful this season and now it just got worse for the 1-7 Panthers as the team has now lost QB Matt Moore and LB Dan Conner for the season. The Carolina Panthers announced that they have placed Matt Moore and Dan Conner on injured reserve for the rest of the season.

The Carolina Panthers have been ripped by injuries this season, and the team currently is the lowest scoring squad in the NFL. Carolina once featured one of the strongest running games in the NFL with the duo of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, however neither has posted a 100 yard game this season. Injuries to the offensive line, as well as to Williams the past two weeks has hindered the panthers running game.

Of course one thing that cannot be understated is the lack of production at the quarterback position. Three quarterbacks have played the position this season for the Panthers, Matt Moore, rookies Jimmy Clausen and Tony Pike saw some action in yesterday’s 34-3 drubbing by the New Orleans Saints.

With next years NFL draft considered to be stacked with quarterback talent, rookie Jimmy Clausen now has to give the Panthers a reason not to use what will be a high first round pick on a quarterback. Clausen has not looked sharp in limited action this season, completing less than 50% of his passes, along with throwing four interceptions and has a current passer rating of 48.0.
