Panthers place QB Matt Moore on injured reserve
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Carolina Panthers will place quarterback Matt Moore on injured reserve. He suffered a torn labrum during Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints after he was a sacked by defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis.
After leading the Panthers to a 4-1 record to finish out the 2009 season, there were high expectations for Moore in his first full season at starting quarterback. Unfortunately, he never lived up to the hype as the Panthers’ offense has struggled to stay consistent all season and ranks at the bottom of the NFL by averaging just 11 points per game.
Moore started five of the eight games he played in this season, throwing for 857 yards with five touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Now, it looks like Jimmy Clausen will get the chance to finish his rookie season out as the starting quarterback for the Panthers.
