Although this is a strictly Saints blog, the down time with the team’s upcoming bye week has given this blogger the opportunity to buzz about the other hot team in New Orleans right now: the NBA’s Hornets.
Many believed that the job that Sean Payton did in his first year of New Orleans wouldn’t be topped, but the Hornets’ first-year coach, Monty Williams may give him a run for his money. The Hornets are off to a franchise-best 7-0 start and are playing well as a team behind the strong leadership of Chris Paul, arguably the best point guard in the NBA right now.
While New Orleans always has been and will continue to be a football, and more specifically, Saints town, the Hornets deserve some local and national attention for the start that they are off to this season. And even though they have a long way to go to come close to matching the success that Sean Payton brought to New Orleans after his hot start in 2006, Williams are the Hornets are certainly off to a great start in 2010.
