I’ll admit it, I had my doubts about Sam Bradford, it Bradford is proving that he was the right choice for the St. Louis Rams in last years NFL draft. The race for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Years is over, close your books and put down your pencils, Sam Bradford is the Rookie of the Year.
This is a St. Louis Rams team which has been horrendous over the past few seasons and after 12 weeks, Bradford has the Rams tied for a share of the NFC West division. Yes, I know about how weak the West is, but think about how stunning it is to say that about the Rams being in first place.
Bradford has been amazing this season. He has completed 60% of his passes, he is on pace for 25 touchdowns and nearly 3600 yards, and what is more amazing-look at his receivers. Bradford gains more confidence each week. Last week against the Denver Broncos, he used eight different receivers while throwing for over 300 yards, 3 scores and no interceptions-on the road, a feat never before accomplished in NFL history by a rookie.
Bradford’s worst game of the season came in week one, throwing three interceptions in a loss against the Arizona Cardinals. Since that game, Bradford has only thrown for multiple interceptions once and only has three interceptions in his last seven games.
There have been some impressive rookie quarterbacks in the past few seasons. Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman but I would take Bradford over all of them to build a team around for the future. The Rams have indeed struck gold with the selection of Bradford and with a few more key players and some receivers, the St Louis Rams are going poised to be a team to be reckoned with for a very long time.
