The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 8-4 with a 34-24 victory over the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football.
With the victory, they increased their playoff chances from 68.8 percent to 73.4 percent, an increase of 4.6 percent.
Sunday’s games will likely change the Eagles’ chances, but Thursday’s win was huge in determining the NFC playoff race.
The Eagles have a 64 percent chance of winning the division, an 18 percent chance of capturing a bye in the first round of the playoffs, and a 4 percent chance of earning home field advantage throughout the postseason.
The Eagles’ playoff chances are eighth best in the National Football League, trailing the Atlanta Falcons (98.8), New York Jets (98.2), New England Patriots (97.7), Pittsburgh Steelers (95.1), Baltimore Ravens (92.3), New Orleans Saints (88.4), and Green Bay Packers (74.7).
According to Sports Club Stats, the Eagles have a 100 percent chance of reaching the postseason if they finish 12-4, 96.9 percent if they finish 11-5, 54.8 percent if they finish 10-6, and 9.3 percent if they finish 9-7. If they lose their remaining four games, they are a virtual lock to miss the postseason.
