The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Green Bay Packers next Sunday at 4:30 p.m. An Eagles win would provide some revenge for a 27-20 loss in the first game of the season.
It would also be ironic because Michael Vick, who played the second half of the Eagles’ loss to Green Bay, announced after the game that the Eagles would have won if he had played the whole game. Now Vick will get his chance to prove that.
The Eagles would travel to Chicago for the divisional round of the postseason. The Eagles could beat the Bears and earn revenge for a 31-26 loss in the season’s 11th game. The loss ultimately cost the Eagles a bye in the postseason.
The Eagles would likely play the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC championship game. If the Eagles win, Michael Vick could get revenge on his old team. I promise to look it up later in the week when I have time, but I don’t think there’s ever been a quarterback who ever beat his old team to reach the Super Bowl.
And the Eagles could beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. In doing so, they would gain revenge for the 24-21 loss in Super Bowl XXXIX. They would prove their case as an elite team, by beating the best of the best. They could help to end the Patriots’ dynasty (unless you believe it ended in 2007, as some do).
Oh, and they would win the Super Bowl playing in Texas Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.
It almost appears to be destiny. The Eagles’ playoff run is set up perfectly.
All the Eagles need to do now is win. Four times.
