Rob Ryan expected to be interviewed for Panthers head coach

As RantSports.com’s own Eric Schmidt indicated earlier on BrownsCentral.com, Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is expected to be interviewed for the Carolina Panthers head coaching job later this week. Rob–the brother of New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan–has been with the Browns since 2004, but has never handled the responsibilities of a head coach in the NFL.After finishing the season 2-14, the Panthers made the decision prior to Week 17 that John Fox and his assistants would not return to the team in 2011. In nine seasons as head coach, Fox recorded just three winning seasons with the Panthers–with the most recent being 2008 when they finished 12-4 and won the NFC South.

While numerous names will emerge for the new coaching position, it may not be a bad idea for Carolina to give Rob a chance–especially with all of the success is brother has seen in New York.
