According to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco is already under contract for the 2011 season–which is ironic considering it seemed like the organization would have to choose whether or not to pick up his option for next season. Apparently, the option was picked up a few years ago when examining the details of the contract–so it looks like Ocho will be back in orange and black stripes next season.
However, Reedy also mentions how all of Ocho’s bonuses have already been taken care of–which means the Bengals could still trade or release him without losing any money. Cincinnati appears to be heading in a direction where they want to use a younger receiving corps next season.
In other words, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the Bengals decided to part ways with Ochocinco. He’s coming off his second season in three years in which he failed to break the 1,000-yard mark–which is disappointing considering Ocho recorded six-straight seasons of 1,100+ receiving yards from 2002-07.
