New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan indicated this week how Saturday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts was “personal” this time around–simply because Peyton Manning has won both matchups against him in the postseason. Now, Ryan can be at ease after a late rally helped his team overcome Manning and advance to the Divisional round of the playoffs.
Nick Folk kicked the game-winning 32-yard field goal as time expired to give the Jets a 17-16 win over the Colts during Wild Card Weekend. Indianapolis took the lead after Adam Vinatieri kicked the go-ahead 50-yard field goal with less than a minute left to take a two-point lead, but New York bounced back the following drive with a few key plays to help set up Folk’s game winner.
Last season, the Colts stood in the way of Ryan and the Jets earning their first Super Bowl trip since 1968–back when Joe Namath was their quarterback. The Manning monkey may be off Ryan’s back, but now he has another future Hall of Fame quarterback to deal with next weekend–Tom Brady.
