To all those that doubted the NFC West, including myself, we deserve three wraps on the wrist. The Seattle Seahawks beat the defending champs in impressive fashion yesterday, dropping 41 points on the Saints.
Not only did they beat New Orleans, they looked near unstoppable doing it. Matt Hasselbeck had a fantastic game, and may have earned himself a contract extension with the ‘Hawks.
Hasselbeck threw 4 touchdowns and only 1 pick, however that interception occurred because of a tipped ball. Marshawn Lynch was able to break off big run after big run and the Saints had no answer.
They looked like a boxer who took a shot in the nose and never recovered. After jumping out to a 10-0 lead, Seattle drove the field and scored a touchdown. The Saints answered with a touchdown of their own, and then Seattle took over.
Roman Harper consistently got beat in coverage and was a liability all day and the three early touchdowns were a result of his blown coverage.
A 7-9 team hosted a playoff game and won against the World Champions. I would love to be the guy that decided to throw in $200 on the Seahawks just because he was a fan.
Now, Seattle WILL have a wake-up call this coming weekend. They will play a team that will play them with respect and they will not be playing at home. However I for one am glad that Seattle, although my mortal enemy, has brought at least a little respect to the NFC West division.
Side note: Before the Chiefs/Ravens game today, Shannon Sharpe and Boomer Esiason picked the Arizona Cardinals as the team to look for to go from last to first next season. Just a little something to look forward to.
