Reggie Wayne after Colts’ loss to Jets: ‘I shouldn’t have even suited up’

The Indianapolis Colts are frustrated about their early exit from the postseason after falling to the New York Jets 17-16 on Saturday night. However, no player may be more frustrated than wide receiver Reggie Wayne.

Peyton Manning’s favorite target was held to just one catch for one yard against the Jets–which ended up being the only time he was targeted all game. The Colts were hoping Wayne would take advantage of a banged-up Darrelle Revis–who has been dealing with a hamstring injury over the last few weeks. Instead, Wayne’s stay on Revis Island was an unpleasant one and he took out his frustration at the media. Here are a few quotes from Wayne courtesy of IndyStar.com:

“It’s bull. It’s bull, man,” the five-time Pro Bowl receiver said after being a non-factor in the Indianapolis Colts’ 17-16 loss to the New York Jets in Saturday night’s AFC wild-card playoff game at Lucas Oil Stadium.”

“I give everything I’ve got no matter what. Every day, I give it everything. And . . . one ball, that’s all.”

“I shouldn’t have even suited up,” Wayne said. “I should have watched the game like everybody else. I was irrelevant.”

Wayne is coming off his seventh-straight 1,000-yard season with the Colts and hasn’t missed a game since his rookie season. Hopefully, this frustration from Wayne doesn’t carry over into the 2011 season.
