After watching rookie center Maurkice Pouncey being helped off the field last Sunday and despite Pouncey’s claim that he would be back to help his team for the Super Bowl, it was reported this afternoon the Steelers will be without Pouncey for the Super Bowl in 11 days.
Pouncey was helped off the field in the game against the new York jets last Sunday in what was described as an ankle injury, later reported as a high ankle sprain. Replays of the injury looked to me as Pouncey might have broken his ankle.
According to Steelers player, Chris Kemoeatu, Pouncey will not be available for the Super Bowl game against the Green Bay Packers on February 6th.
Kemoeatu told reporters this afternoon, “We are definitely sad that he won’t be able to be with us in the Super Bowl. Definitely I feel bad for him. We just have to win it for him”. Doug Legursky who replaced Pouncey in the AFC Championship game will be the likely starter for the Steelers during the Super Bowl.
