Detroit Lions 2011 Draft Needs

By Chris Ransom

Left Tackle Detroit needs a new left tackle. The Lions usually take the best available player and Nate Soldier fits a huge need here. Jason Fox is moving to right tackle so he is no longer a candidate to succeed Jeff Backus in Detroit.

Cornerback The Detroit Lions need a new cornerback to anchor their secondary. They drafted Amari Spivey and moved him to strong safety. Once the Lions draft a cornerback tandem there set on secondary.

Linebacking Core: The Lions had an elite linebacking core 2 years ago with Julian Peterson, Larry Foote, and Ernie Simms. Now their linebacking core is a shadow of its former self. Look for the Lions to obtain linebackers in the draft.

Best available player: The Lions love taking the best available player.
