Drew Brees advances to elite eight of Madden Cover contest

After defeating division rival Josh Freeman in the first round and AFC sensation Mark Sanchez in EA Sports’ Madden Cover competition, Saints quarterback Drew Brees has advanced to the elite eight, and is three wins away from gracing the cover of the Madden video game for the second straight year.

In the quarterfinals, Brees is pitted up against Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson, a player that Brees’s Saints ousted from the playoffs in the NFC Championship Game two years go. Peterson looks to be the stiffest competition that Brees has faced yet, and it would be quite the feat for a Saints player to be the first player to be featured on the cover of the Madden Video game twice.

Voting in the elite eight round is open until April 11, so anyone who cares about Brees and the Saints should make sure to vote here . The other players remaining in the competition are Michael Vick, Peyton Hillis, Danny Woodhead, Aaron Rogers, Jamaal Charles and Patrick Willis. Lots of elite players, obviously, but Saints fans need to make sure that Brees is the last elite player standing after the voting is said and done.
