On Tuesday, Packers.com released the 2011 preseason schedule for Green Bay.
As was the case last preseason, the Packers open their preseason schedule against the Browns. The date and time haven’t been decided on yet, but they’ll likely face Cleveland between the days of Aug. 11-15 at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
Green Bay lost to Cleveland, 27-24, in last year’s preseason at Lambeau Field.
Sometime between Aug. 18-22, the Arizona Cardinals will travel to Green Bay for the Packers first game at Lambeau since a Week 17 win over the Chicago Bears. The Packers haven’t faced Arizona in the preseason since 1978.
The date of the Packers third preseason game is the lone contest set in stone. Green Bay will go to Indianapolis to take on Peyton Manning and the Colts on Aug. 26 in a nationally televised game.
As Packers.com states, the game will be at 7 p.m., and CBS holds broadcast rights for the contest. The Packers beat the Colts 59-24 on ESPN in their third preseason game last year.
The Packers will again close their exhibition schedule against the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2010, the Packers were beaten in Kansas City, 17-13, in their final tuneup before the season.
The lockout currently doesn’t allow these games to be played, but we at least have a glimmer of hope into when we might see NFL football being played again.
Who would have ever thought the preseason schedule would sound so exciting?
