The NFL announced their full slate of preseason games yesterday, which can be found on their website, which of course are contingent on a new collective bargaining agreement being reached in time.
Nevertheless, here are the matchups for the New York Jets in the 2011 NFL preseason:
On Monday August 15, the Jets will play on ESPN’s Monday Night Football in Houston against the Texans. These two teams have played in the regular season in each of the past two years, with the Jets winning both times.
The following week, the Jets head home to New Meadowlands Stadium to host the Cincinnati Bengals on a date somewhere between August 18-22 that is still to be announced. The Jets are 3-0 against the Bengals over the past two seasons, including one postseason game.
In preseason Week 3, as every year, the Jets will play the New York Giants in what is considered a road game for the Jets. These teams will also play each other in the regulars season for the first time in the Rex Ryan era. The date and time of the preseason matchup is still to be announced. Then again the entire season is sort of to be announced isn’t it? (I laugh to keep myself from crying, folks.)
In the preseason finale, like always, the Jets will play the Philadelphia Eagles on either September 1 or 2 at New Meadowlands Stadium. The AFC and NFC East all play each other this season, so I wouldn’t expect either team to be showing off anything too flashy in this game.
So there you have it folks. The tentatively scheduled 2011 Jets preseason schedule. Fingers crossed that these games get played.
