Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco is entering the final year of his contract after the team decided to pick up his $6 million option for the 2011 season. However, if the recent vibe from some of Ocho’s teammates are any indication of what’s to come–it appears the six-time Pro Bowler may not even get a chance to finish out the final year of his contract.
Bengals backup quarterback Jordan Palmer–who has helped organize workouts for the team this offseason now that his brother Carson is demanding a trade–recently told Joe Kay of the Associated Press that some of the players are assuming that Ochocinco won’t be back with the team next season. While Cincinnati already picked up his option for the 2011 season, Ochocinco could still trade or release him without being penalized financially. And with the constant battles this offseason between Ocho and head coach Marvin Lewis–it’s no surprise that even some of his teammates believe No. 85 won’t be wearing orange and black stripes next season.
The report also indicates that some members of the Bengals don’t expect Terrell Owens back either–but that’s old news. The team indicated months ago they wouldn’t bring Owens back next season after just one season in Cincinnati.
