The Cardinals have many needs going into this years draft. With an offensive line that may or may not be losing all three interior linemen to retirement (Alan Faneca) or free agency (Lyle Sendlein and Duece Lutui) they need o-line help.
However, they also desperately need an outside rush linebacker, an inside linebacker that can play downhill and stop the run, and a quarterback.
The Cardinals also need a tight end that is capable of catching passes. Ken Whisenhunt, a tight end himself, has not had a TE that can catch a pass in his tenure in AZ. One more weapon couldn’t hurt.
All of these needs, and they may still be choosing Patrick Peterson with the #5 pick overall. This is only because of Peterson’s dynamic playmaking ability (and because he IS the best player in the draft). Plus, he and DRC together on the field would be downright unfair to opposing defenses.
Because we really have no idea how this draft will work out, here is a Cardinals wish list of draft players that may be available at their pick, through round three.
Round 1: Von Miller – OLB, Robert Quinn OLB/DE, Patrick Peterson – CB, Blaine Gabbert, QB
Round 2: Martez Wilson – ILB, Kyle Rudolph – TE, Derek Sherrod – T, Danny Watkins – G, Christian Ponder – QB, Colin Kaepernick – QB, Brooks Reed – OLB/DE, Dontay Moch – OLB
Round 3: Marcus Cannon – T/G, Ben Ijalana – T/G, Sam Acho – OLB/DE, Quan Surdivant – ILB, Luke Stocker – TE, Lance Kendricks – TE,
As you can see, there are many players that would be great fits for the Cardinals, many more than are listed here. This is a deep draft for the Cardinals needs, so they should be ok come draft day. It all depends on how the Cards have these players rated, and if some stars fall into their laps.
