Kansas City Chiefs Defense why it may become the the best 3-4 defense in the NFL

By Chris Ransom

The Kansas City Chiefs addressed some key needs on defense the last 2 seasons.  I could easily see the Chiefs surpassing teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Baltimore Ravens in terms of best 3-4 defense within the next few years because they have a defensive coordinator in Romeo Crenell, and a defesne with lots of kep players.

3-4 Right End Glenn Dorsey will start while Allen Bailey is a backup for depth.

3-4 Left End Tyson Jackson and Wallace Gilberry will compete for starting job.

Nose Tackle Jerrell Powe Powe could have gone in the 2nd round at one point and the Kansas City Chiefs got him in round 6.

3-4 Right Outside Linebacker Tamba Hali and Andy Studebaker as a backup

3-4 Left Outside Linebacker Mike Vrabel and Justin Houston as a backup until Vrabel retires.

3-4 Middle Linebacker Derrick Johnson with DeMorrio Williams as a backup.

3-4 Middle Linebacker Jovan Belcher

Cornerback #1 Brandon Flowers and Jalil Brown as a backup.

Cornerback #2 Brandon Carr and Javier Arenas as a backup

Strong Safety Eric Berry

Free Safety Jon McGraw

Besdies Free Safety the Kansas City Chiefs have a young defense that is set to compete for a very long time.  Your probably telling yourself that this defense is no threat, but Hali perfomed better than James Harrison without resorting to any cheap shot hits so the bottom line is this defense that Scott Pioli assembled could be around for a very long time.  Eric Berry posted Troy Polamalu like stats in his rookie season.  Flowers and Carr could be a deadly cornerback tandem in the future.  Both corners played well last year in Crennel’s defesnse.  This defense may be good enough to win a Super Bowl even if they have a quarterback like Matt Cassel some time in the near future.
