The wildly unappreciated and sometimes much maligned offensive tackle Kareem McKenzie of the New York Giants has finally been getting some praise.
Pro Football Focus recently wrote an article ranking him the NFL’s best right tackle in 2010, and only behind Andrew Whitworth and Jake Long in tackles in general.
Pretty much the only thing talked about regarding McKenzie last season was the meltdown he had in the Tennessee Titans game in week 3 when he had two ridiculous personal foul penalties that really killed the Giants.
After that you didn’t hear much about him, and as the article noted, that is usually a good thing.
There has been a lot of talk that Will Beatty is going to replace McKenzie at the position soon. Given this new information I don’t think many would agree with that now.
McKenzie turned 32 last Tuesday and still has some left in the tank. The Giants should ride out his dominant play as much as possible.
