Favre, Plaxico, Haynesworth, Asomugha, Bush & More: Who Will the Philadelphia Eagles Actually Sign?
By now, you’ve likely heard the Philadelphia Eagles linked to just about every available free agent in the National Football League.
There are reports of defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth being reunited with defensive line coach Jim Washburn (assuming he is released by the Washington Redskins).
There are reports of the Eagles bringing wide receiver Plaxico Burress in as a red zone target.
There are reports of the Eagles attempting to acquire former Heisman Trophy winning running back Reggie Bush from the New Orleans Saints.
There are reports of the Eagles signing Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, in what would probably be the largest deal for a free agent in NFL history.
There are reports of the Eagles trading Kevin Kolb to the Arizona Cardinals for star cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
There are reports of the Eagles bringing back defensive end Jason Babin, who would also be reunited with Washburn.
There are reports of the Eagles bringing Brett Favre in as Michael Vick’s backup.
There are even reports of the Eagles bringing back Donovan McNabb or Brian Dawkins (actually I made up the Dawkins rumor just because I would love for it to happen).
There are also reports of the Eagles trading for Albert Pujols, LeBron James, Sidney Crosby, Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, and Tiger Woods. Okay, well those aren’t actually true.
After all, I’ve heard that the Philadelphia Eagles think that this is their year and will pursue every big name free agent.
But the point remains that the Philadelphia Eagles have been linked to just about every single big name player available.
Over the past few months, I have covered just about all of these players and the possibility of the Eagles signing them (check the many hyperlinks above).
Here is a yes or no for each player and whether I think they will be an Eagle in 2011:
Albert Haynesworth: No.
Plaxico Burress: No.
Reggie Bush: No.
Nnamdi Asomugha: No.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: Yes.
Jason Babin: Yes.
Brett Favre: No.
Donovan McNabb: No.
Brian Dawkins: No.
So that leaves DRC and Babin with the 2011 Eagles.
As for the rest? I doubt it.

Every year, Grantland's Bill Barnwell crafts his All-Bad-Contracts Team, and all any fan is hoping for is that they don't see one of their team's players pop up. Well, Falcons fans, here's the bad news: You didn't make it through unscathed. The good news, though, is that only one Falcon made it onto the list ... Read More
