Family Night Scrimmage Ends Early, Packers Look Ahead to Browns

By David Arreola

Saturday Night’s annual Packers scrimmage at Lambeau Field was called off early due to weather. The horrid weather never came, and fans were left pretty disappointed after only being able to watch 2 series and a few plays. Despite the shortened scrimmage, there were some brief fireworks for the crowd of over 60,000.

Undrafted rookie cornerback Bradian Ross returned an Aaron Rodgers pass intended for James Jones all the way back for a touchdown, and rookie stand out Randall Cobb made a great 40 yard receiving play. Not a whole lot can be taken from Family Night except that Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb are continuing to build chemistry very quickly.

Now the Packers will switch into preseason mode, where the players who will be competing for roster spots must get the most playing time, as well as those players who have been injured since last season. The Browns are their first preseason opponent, and the home of former Packers running back Brandon Jackson.

I will preview the match up further on in the week.
