Gettis Has Torn ACL
After getting his knee examined after hurting his knee in Wednesday’s practice, doctors determined that Panthers receiver David Gettis has sustained a torn ACL in his right knee. This puts the sophomore receiver’s 2011-2012 season very much in limbo, though coach Ron Rivera wouldn’t speculate on whether or not it appeared Gettis was indeed done for the season. When asked whether or not Gettis was done for the season, Rivera kept his answer short and simple.
“We’ll see,” he wrote on his blog on Panthers.com.
Gettis had 37 reception in his rookie season with the Panthers, and was a rare bright spot in the Panthers’ 2010-2011 campaign. The Panthers will likely miss the presence of another viable receiver apart from Steve Smith as the Panthers have already been hurting for more receiver for quite a while now. Look for the Panthers to make a move some time soon to snag another receiver to help fill the hole Gettis’ absence will leave.
