The Panthers are plenty familiar with Reggie Bush. For five years, Bush lurked in the backfield of the Panthers’ division rival New Orleans Saints, causing issues for opposing defenses with his quickness. Bush was traded away in the offseason, however, in a deal with the Miami Dolphins to send Bush to the Dolphins for safety Jonathon Amaya and draft picks.
Now, the Panthers have to face Bush yet again in the upcoming preseason game later today against the Miami Dolphins. Bush will be a good test for a defense trying to rebound from a 2010 campaign that was less than stellar in terms of rushing defense.
Having Ron Rivera as the new head coach will certainly help the defensive efforts, but someone needs to step up at the Dolphins to stop Bush and show that this Panthers defense is ready to stop opposing running backs. If no one can by the start of the season, this may be another very long year for Panthers fans.
