Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson Has Plans For Epic Touchdown Celebration This Season
Over the years, the NFL has seen plenty of memorable touchdown celebrations–with some of the most popular ones displayed by players like Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens. With the 2011 regular season just a few weeks away, it appears there’s one player ready to display the “best celebration you’ve ever seen”–Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson told Philip Zaroo of MLive.com on Tuesday how Johnson has something special in the works for a touchdown celebration this upcoming season–that is “if the stars align.”
“Certain things have to happen in the course of the play that will make this the best celebration you’ve ever seen,” Burleson said courtesy of Zaroo. “I guarantee it.”
Best celebration we’ve ever seen? That’s a pretty bold statement considering there have been some classic celebrations over the last few years. Johnson has proven to be one of the most effective wideouts (12 touchdowns in 2011) since joining the league in 2007 and he’s obviously going to find the end zone numerous times this upcoming season–especially if Matthew Stafford manages to stay healthy.
So what does Johnson have planned for this big celebration? Football fans will be anxiously waiting Week 1 in Tampa Bay to see if Johnson finds the end zone, but unfortunately–the Pro Bowl wideout is keeping it a secret until it actually happens.
“You’ll just have to wait and see,” Johnson said. “If the stars align, it’ll happen. But I’m not going to tell what it is right now.”
