With both Max Hall and John Skelton injured last week, the Cardinals’ back-up quarterback seemed to be in question. Both Hall and Skelton both started last season for the Cardinals but now take the back seat to Kevin Kolb.
Hall, suffering from a shoulder injury was waived on Wednesday and the Cardinals brought on 28-year old Brodie Croyle. While Hall showed promise at various points throughout the 2010 season, it was Skelton who seemed to have the most poise.
While we anxiously await the third pre-season game this week in which the starters usually play a lot, the Cardinals look to address a back-up for Kolb. While Brodie Croyle isn’t a player that we will hear a lot of, he does bring service time to Arizona.
Croyle has thrown eight career touchdowns with nine career interceptions but chances are, John Skelton will be the back-up to Kevin Kolb. Kolb, Skelton, Croyle, and Richard Bartel fill out the Cardinals quarterback depth-chart but only three will make it.
Chances are Croyle is only a pre-season signing. Look for Max Hall to sign on with another team whether it be practice squad or back-up.
