Chicago Bears Lance Briggs and Anthony Adams to Miss Remainder of the Preseason

Both Lance Briggs and Anthony Adams are major cogs in the Chicago Bears defense. Adams was hurt the first day of training camp (foot injury) in Bourbonnais and Briggs bruised his knee there as well. During the opening kickoff of the preseason, defensive end Corey Wootton injured his knee and will be out for at least the remainder of the preseason and possibly part of the regular season.

Quite honestly, veterans like Briggs and Adams know what they need to do to be ready for the season opener on September 11th against the Atlanta Falcons. Wootton still needs to prove he can stay healthy, but the Chicago Bears are very happy with his progress.

Rookie running back Harvey Unga is still excused for personal reasons. I’d like to see him show what he can do, but obviously he is prioritizing his personal life. His wife just had their second child, so I hope it isn’t anything too serious.

Probably means we will get off to a slow start on defense unless someone steps up to fill the void. With the brutal front part of the schedule I surely hope so, but it might mean that the offense has to be the crutch for a change. Not saying that Briggs and Adams won’t be ready, they might not be as ready as they need to be. Unga may lose his spot on the team though don’t be surprised if he does, players have lost their roster spot for less.

Didn’t think of it that way. Excellent point on the schedule. Briggs doesn’t worry me, but Adams does
