After the acquisitions of Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, rumors started to fly about the Philadelphia Eagles trading Asante Samuel considering how stacked they were at cornerback. While all signs point to the team keeping Samuel around, it appears there’s another Eagles cornerback that cold be leaving the nest soon–Joselio Hanson.
Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com discussed on Friday the Eagles have received multiple offers for Hanson and a source close to the organization claims there’s a “good chance” the cornerback will be traded before September 3–the final day for teams to have their 53-man roster. Hason has been an effective cornerback playing in the slot over the years, but he’s obviously not going to play ahead of Asomugha, Rodgers-Cromartie, or Samuel–which means Philadelphia would be paying around $2 million for their fourth-best cornerback.
With the depth at cornerback, this may be the best move considering both the Eagles and Hanson would benefit from a trade. Not only would they be able to obtain another draft pick for Hanson, but Philadelphia would save a little bit of money as well.
