Bucs Beat Dolphins Despite Numerous Penalties

By Joshua Casey

On Saturday the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took on the Miami Dolphins in their third preseason game. The Bucs overcame 15 penalties to beat the Dolphins 17-13 and improve to 2-1 in the pre season thus far. Although Josh Freeman looked a little rusty to begin the game, missing a couple wide open receivers, he did manage to lead a touch down drive just before the first half ended. Freeman finished the game 12 for 23 with 149 yards passing and is expected to play maybe one down at most on Thursday when the Bucs take on the Texans.

After the Bucs game Freeman was interviewed and had this to say, “I think we’re right where we need to be, I missed a couple of throws… That comes with getting more and more game reps and getting in more of a rhythm, but that’s nothing I’m really concerned about.” The bucs did overcome 15 penalties for 135 yards, not exactly what they wanted after coming off a blowout against the Patriots last week.

Bucs corner-back did not play Saturday even though he was cleared to and will not be facing any suspensions from the NFL. The reason for Talib sitting out was a hamstring injury that has been bothering him since the end of last season and has also kept Talib out for the first two weeks of the preseason. There was no word on whether Talib will try to come back for next weeks last preseason game, but he is expected to start September 11 when the Bucs open up the season against the Detroit Lions.
