The Cleveland Browns made waves earlier this week when the team signed former Washington Redskins lineman, Artis Hicks. Hicks has been a bit of a journeyman throughout the early portions of his NFL career, but will come to the Browns at a time where experience and football knowledge are at an all-time high.
Hicks is currently expected to challenge for a starting spot on the offensive line and will specialize at the right tackle and left guard positions. Jason Pinkston is currently slated at the starting left guard spot, but has never played in a regular season NFL game and has struggled with picking up the complexities of a professional offense throughout certain portions of camp.
Cleveland made the right move by signing Hicks and can only benefit from having more experienced linemen while the team deals with the absence of Eric Steinbach.
Early reports from Browns camp have high praise for Hicks and his ability to pick up things quickly in the new offense. The Browns also went out of their way to sign Oniel Cousins earlier last week in another attempt to add depth on the line.
